Was someone detained today?
- You can search for the person in ICE’s online detainee locator with their A-number and country of birth, or with their full name and country of birth. If they don’t show up yet, it can take a few hours.
- Ask your family member not to sign any document before talking to a lawyer.
- Then call us. Whether the person can ask for bond depends on how they entered the country and where they’re held, and that gets checked right away.
Questions people ask us
How long will my case take?
It depends on the type of case and the agency reviewing it. At the first meeting we give you a realistic range for yours, in writing.
Do you take cases for people outside Illinois?
Yes. Immigration law is federal, so we can handle cases for people in other states. Some hearings mean traveling or appearing by video.
Can someone who isn’t a lawyer handle my case?
Only a licensed attorney or a representative accredited by the Department of Justice can give you immigration legal advice or file your case. If anyone else offers, ask for their license number and check it.
Can I pay in installments?
In many cases, yes. We give you the payment plan in writing before we start.
Can you help me in Spanish?
Yes. Everyone in the office speaks English and Spanish.
